Dying to Self...

Walking in His footsteps

And Jesus answered them, saying: "The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also My servant be: if any man serve Me, him will My Father honour."
John 12:23-26

Expounding on the words of Jesus:

I have to die to self, so Christ can live in me and do His works through me. Christ gave up His natural body and all that this world has to offer. He brought forth much fruit. He gave Himself unto death, bringing deliverance to this fallen creation. And many will gain LIFE through faith in His finished work.

He who lives for himself and seeks to get out of this life as much as possible, does not show to be a follower of Christ, and he will lose his eternal life by it. But he who desires to reach out and considers others more than himself; who is concerned about the welfare of those who suffer, are hungry, sick, downtrodden, rejected, lost, forsaken, homeless, will have eternal life.

If we want to serve Christ, we must also follow in His footsteps and have His compassion to save a world lost in sin, to bring deliverance from bondage, to present the Good News of salvation, leading mankind to the Father through the Saviour.

As we do the Father's work, as Jesus did, we will be where He is. If we follow Christ we will bring honor and glory to the Father.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20

Let us pray: "Teach me, O LORD, the way of Thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep Thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me to go in the path of Thy commandments; for therein do I delight. Incline my heart unto Thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken Thou me in Thy way.
AMEN! (Psalm 119:33-37)
